Lofoten’s most sustainable hands on tour

Seaweed harvesting by RIB boat

Seaweed is a sustainable and healthy source of food and thanks to one of the world’s strongest tidal currents there’s an abundance of it in Lofoten. With our partners from Lofoten Seaweed we would like to introduce you to the world of seaweed by wild-harvesting it from the icy waters together with you.

Our licensed and experienced guide will take you to a beautiful and secluded spot and explain about the different seaweed species and the rich ecosystem that lies beneath the water.

To withstand the icy waters of the Norwegian Sea you will be dressed in a dry suit. This suit will keep the water from reaching your body so you can float through the water to harvest the seaweed.

Going out by RIB boat also gives you the opportunity to see the Lofoten Archipelago from sea. There’s even a chance that you will spot a Norwegian sea eagle or some arctic porpoises!

After arriving back to Å you will put the seaweed to dry and we will serve you a warm meal at our Brygge restaurant made from freshly harvested seaweed. You will also be given a gift box of seaweed salt harvested from the seaweed here in Lofoten.
